Shall we play in FIFA World Cup?

India is the second largest country in the world in population and has 130 crore people but we don’t have a professional football players. Our football team is not at all in a good position. The main reason is that India didn’t giving priority to other sports except cricket.India qualified by default for the 1950 FIFA World Cup finals as a result of the withdrawal of all of their scheduled opponents. But the governing body, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), decided against going to the World Cup, being unable to understand the importance of the event at that time. Reason shown by AIFF was that there was the cost of travel although FIFA agreed to bear a major part of the travel expenses, lack of practice time, team selection issues and valuing the Olympics over the FIFA World Cup. In 1996 February India was 94th position at FIFA ranking and we are at 166th position. In India there are lots of talented youngsters but we don’t have the international level training center there is no proper training too.

ISL (Indian Super League) a new initiative that is for supporting our football and finding new talents. It is also giving opportunity to the Indian players to play with international players. ISL is one of the top tier professional football leagues in India. There are 8 teams in ISL from all around the India and Its runs from September to December. It has 429 million television viewers across India and it is two-and-half times more than the 2014 The Federation Internationale de Football (FIFA) World Cup viewership in the country. The ISL league is making a hope to Indians that from this team we can choose good players and make a good team.
